About the host

Patrick Mullins is a retired anesthesiologist, Navy officer, woodworker, pie baker, and lifelong believer that the best projects are the ones you actually start.

These days, you’ll often find him in his wood shop helping friends and family bring their projects to life because, as he says, “nothing is worse than sitting on your ass doing nothing.”

When he’s not woodworking, Patrick is busy hiking with his Weimaraner, Shadow, feeding organic carrots to the neighbor’s llamas, baking pies from scratch, and rooting for Mizzou or the Kansas City Chiefs in football. You won’t catch him drinking before 5pm but he’s always up for an adventure.

Before his career in medicine, Patrick served as a U.S. Navy officer in a medical unit. He deployed to Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, supporting the United States Marine Corps as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later completed a second medical deployment at the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, where he served as a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) while fulfilling clinical roles such as Anesthesia Services Education Director and CPR Committee Chair.

Originally hailing from Norborne, Missouri, Patrick comes from a long line of farmers. His father and siblings continue to operate Mullins Farms, producing primarily corn and soybeans, along with raising a few goats and chickens. You can even spot a banner celebrating this hometown hero in Norborne aka the “Soybean Capital of the World” which boasts an annual Soybean Festival every August.
