Jimmy Sansone

The Normal Brand just celebrated 9 years and we’re going to chat with Jimmy Sansone who quit his job in finance to launch this successful brand (initially from his parent’s basement).

It all started because he wanted a better, normal shirt. Brothers Lan and Conrad joined soon after, and they now run it together. By 2019 they had a brick-and-mortar store (designed by their mom) and as of 2023 they have 11 stores with more planned for 2024.

“Normal for us is something you can wear from the city to the country and everywhere in between. We create craft casual wear and accessories with understated - but significant - style for everyday people like us.”

Their approach is working and they somehow maintain incredible humility and unflinching resolve to stay true to their roots.

“We don’t know a lot, but have learned some things. We make clothes. There are people who do far more important things. But the lessons we’ve learned have helped in life too.” - Jimmy in a recent LinkedIn post

As a parent of young kids now, he’s been reflecting on one big key to success:  “Parents who believe in us.” As he looks back on the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, he recognizes his hard won success of TNB through risk taking, building a community of supporters, seeking a wide array of sources of inspiration, practicing gratitude daily, and a healthy dose of faith along the way.

I’ve been inspired by them since my days in St. Louis and I’m beyond excited that Jimmy (a fellow WashU grad) has agreed to share more of his story on Wednesday, April 3rd at 2pm for my next episode of Actually, Ashley…
