Give Me Your Book Recommendations
Avid Readers: What books do you reach for time and again?
I’m building a list of must-read books with a creative tilt.
Looking for books that stretch your thinking, sharpen your instincts, or quietly change how you see the world.
I want to recommend books I’ve personally read… so if you share a title, it needs to be one you’d confidently say is a must-read because I’ll add it to the top of my TBR list.
Focused on the following three categories and sharing some examples to get you thinking:
1. Business or psychology books you regularly reference
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck
Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans
Think Again by Adam Grant
2. Fiction that shaped how you see the world
Capital: A Novel by John Lanchester.
Don’t be intimidated by the page count. The shifting perspectives explore materialism, greed, and inequality in contemporary London during a financial crisis, all orbiting the mystery of anonymous postcards that read: “We Want What You Have.” Total page-turner.
Sorry that's the only one I've got. I don't read a lot of fiction. Last week, I recommended The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare by G.K. Chesterton and realized it was published back in 1908.
3. Books about writing or creating.
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
On Writing by Stephen King
